Nocturne was founded in 1994 by Saphi in France. It started primarily in noise and dark ambient territories, later evolving toward more electronic textures, rhythmic structures, and melodic elements—particularly after Cécile F. became involved around 2006. Over more than 30 years, Saphi has remained the central figure, consistently exploring themes rooted in French industrial culture. The project delves into post-industrial alienation, mechanized labor, mental oppression, and societal critique.
